In the official artbook for Square Enix’s game Bravely Default, character designer Akihiko Yoshida resigned from Square Enix this past November.
Yoshida first joined Square in 1995, where he made his company debut as character designer for Final Fantasy Tactics in 1997. He later did the designs for Vagrant Story and the Tactics series. His first contribution in a main Final Fantasy title was Final Fantasy XII (top-left) in 2006. He later recreated Yoshitaka Amano’s designs for the DS remake of Final Fantasy III (top-center) and Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light. Most recently, he was the main character designer for Final Fantasy XIV and Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn (top-right).
While no longer an in-house artist for Square Enix, Bravely Default's artbook confirms he will continue to work for the company as a freelancer.
